TU
resumed bargaining in the technology industry
TU
(16.08.2010)
Collective bargaining in the technology industry was resumed
on August 9 by
the Union of Salaried Employees TU and its employer counterpart (The
Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff YTN). The negotiations focus
on pay rises. In spring TU announced that it was aiming at an increase of
EUR100 per month.
And in these
weeks the employer federation
is
holding parallel negotiations on pay
rises with The Metalworkers'
Union, The Electrical Workers'
Union and The
Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff (YTN).
Prior to the annual leave period employer side offered an 0.5 per cent pay
rise, the emphasis being on local level and company-specific solutions. At
that time
TU and the other employee organizations rejected the offer anticipating
a
more
suitable bargaining environment to evolve by autumn.
TU's
collective agreement with The Federation of Finnish Technology
Industries concerns 33,000 salaried employees. The agreement is in force
until the end of September 2012. The annual pay rises, due to be implemented
each autumn, should always be agreed upon in April-May.
If the pay negotiations fail, the agreement may be cancelled by
each year by the end of May. However, this year the cancellation deadline
has been agreed for the end of September.
